Trojans Shut out Waves 1-0 in Exhibition

LOS ANGELES – The No. 5 USC women's soccer team shut out Pepperdine for 100 minutes to pick up a 1-0 win.
Penelope Hocking scored the lone goal for the Trojans in the exhibition, netting a shot just 30 seconds into the second period of play. Kaylie Collins and Anna Smith split time in goal for the shutout. The teams played two 35 minute periods and finished with a 30 minute period.
GOAL
36' – USC: Penelope Hocking – Hocking ran down a ball deep in the right side of the box and then slotted a right-footed shot inside the far post.

The Trojans head to Hawaii to open the regular season with a pair of games, facing Hawaii on Aug. 22 and then San Francisco on Aug. 24. USC then hosts the "Battle at the Banc" on Aug. 29 at Banc of California Stadium, with No. 4 UCLA taking on No. 1 Florida State and the Trojans facing Florida.
