June 28, 2019 | Women's Rowing, Features
LOS ANGELES--The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) honored USC women's rowing seniors Chloe Brew and Krete Koovit on July 27 for their athletic achievements. Brew was selected to the CRCA Pocock All-America second team, while Koovit was named a CRCA Pocock All-America honorable mention.
Brew is USC's 30thall-time All-America selection.
Each year the coaches of the CRCA recognize the outstanding student athletes in each Division. General criteria for the award are that the student-athlete must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution, must have rowed at least 75% of the season's races in the varsity boat, must be nominated by her institution and the head coach of the student-athlete's institution must be a member in good standing of the CRCA.
The nominated student-athletes are then selected to the first and second teams based on strength of finish of the institution's varsity eight within the country, comments from their head coach and their 2k erg score.
Both Brew and Koovit were integral members of USC's varsity eight. They helped USC to extend their undefeated winning streak against crosstown rival UCLA to 18-straight duals. The two rowers each have a plethora of international experience as well as Brew rows for Great Britain and Koovit competes for Estonia.
