Trojans Score Late for 3-2 Win at LMU

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The USC baseball team scored in the eighth to tie it and then plated the go-ahead run in the ninth to beat LMU 3-2 on Tuesday night.
USC and LMU split the season series with the Trojan win, and USC moves to 21-26-1 on the season while the Lions fall to 28-21.
The Trojans would tie things up late when Brady Shockey led the eighth off with a double down the right field line, then was moved over on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a double-play ball. Trevor Halsema worked a walk in the ninth then swiped second to move into scoring position so that a Brandon Perez single up the middle scored him.
LMU jumped out to a 1-0 lead with back-to-back doubles in the third inning, but USC would get a two-out RBI single from Tyler Pritchard in the fifth to tie things up. The Lions would break the tie in the sixth, when Steven Chavez singled home a run to make it a 2-1 game.
Chris Clarke picked up the win after tossing two scoreless inning to end the game. He was one of four Trojan pitchers used on the day. Austin Manning also had 2.0 scoreless innings for USC.

The Trojans return to Dedeaux Field for their final homestand this weekend, hosting Oregon for a three-game set starting on Friday.
