No. 2 USC Wipes Out Washington in 5-0 Sweep

The Trojans completed a 4-0 weekend at the Pac-12 North Invitational
STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 2-ranked USC beach volleyball team (20-4) defeated Washington (6-9) in a 5-0 sweep to conclude the Pac-12 North Invitational with a 4-0 mark at the Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium on Sunday, April 7.

The Trojans improved to 4-0 all-time against the Huskies and got their sixth sweep of the season.

USC picked up the first point of the dual when senior Abril Bustamante and sophomore Tina Graudina took down Kristen Gengenbacher and Destiny Julye, 21-13, 21-12, at the top court. The Trojans went up, 2-0, in the dual on a straight-set win from senior Terese Cannon and sophomore Sammy Slater, who beat Kara Bajema and Shayne McPherson, 21-12, 21-15, at the No. 2 position.

The victory went into the books when junior Joy Dennis and sophomore Maja Kaiser teamed up for the 21-10, 21-17 win over Avie Niece and Kyra Peterson at the fourth position. USC pushed to a 4-0 lead on a 21-12, 21-18 win by sophomore Haley Hallgren and senior Alexandra Poletto at the No. 3 spot.

In the only match to go three sets, junior Cammie Dorn teamed with freshman Hannah Martin for a 21-16, 16-21, 15-11 win over Chloe Newton and Callie Weber at the fifth position. In a non-scoring exhibition match, freshman Karina Myszkowski and sophomore Josannah Vazquez earned a 21-17, 21-11 win over Emma Calle and Anna Visser.

USC returns home to host SoCal rivals No. 9 Long Beach State and No. 5 Pepperdine at Merle Norman Stadium on Thursday, April 11. Both duals will be shown live on Pac-12 Networks.
