LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team opened play in the Dodger Stadium College Baseball Classic on Friday with an 11-6 loss at home to Oklahoma State.

The Trojans put up six runs in the first two innings, but couldn't hold on after a seven-run third for the Cowboys. USC falls to 4-8 with the loss, while Oklahoma State moves to 8-4.

The Trojans started fast, getting a leadoff double from Blake Sabol, who then stole third and was driven in by Chase Busor for the first run of the game in the first. CJ Stubbs would add a sacrifice fly later in the frame. USC put up four more runs in the bottom of the second, capitalizing on several Cowboy miscues and getting an RBI double from Jamal O'Guinn.

Oklahoma State loaded the bases with two outs in the third and after walking in a run, would get two-run doubles from Bryce Carter and Carson McCusker. Two more RBI base-hits put the Cowboys up for good, 7-6. The visitors tacked on a run in the sixth and then three unearned in the eighth.

TOP PERFORMERS

Jamal O'Guinn went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Chase Bushor was also 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Blake Sabol was 2-for-4 with a walk, two steals and two runs scored in the leadoff spot.
Carson Lambert struck out a career-high five batters in 4.1 relief innings.
Calvin Schapira threw a scoreless 1.2 innings to finish the game.

COMING UP
The Trojans continue play on the weekend hosting No. 16 Michigan tomorrow night at 6 p.m. USC then faces No. 2 UCLA at Dodger Stadium on Sunday at 3 p.m.
