The Women of Troy finish the season with an 18-14 overall record
WACO, Texas – The USC women's volleyball team (18-14) fell in three sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-22) to No. 1-seeded and top-ranked Baylor (27-1) and was eliminated in the second round of the NCAA Division I Championship at the Ferrell Center on Saturday, Dec. 7.

KEY PLAYERS
- Sr. OH Khalia Lanier led the team with 14 kills (5e, 36att, .250) and had seven digs. Her 566 digs and 1,408 attacks this season each rank third in USC's single-season record books.
- So. setter Raquel Lázaro put up 33 assists and had three blocks. Her 1,424 assists are sixth in USC single-season history.
- Jr. OH Brooke Botkin scored 11 kills (4e, 24att, .292) and had three digs.
- Sr. MB Jasmine Gross put up four kills and had a block to finish with 174 blocks this season, which ranks tied for fourth in a single season in program history.
- Fr. OPP Emilia Weske scored eight kills (3e, 18att, .278).
- For the Bears, Marieke Van der Mark led with 13 kills while hitting .706 and Shelly Stafford had 12 kills on a .733 hitting rate. The Trojans held Yossiana Pressley to a .171 hitting percentage but the star OH finished with 12 kills.
- USC led by as many as five points in the first set at 17-12, but Baylor fought back to take a 25-23 win. The Trojans hit .469 in the frame and got nine kills from Lanier, but lost the serve-and-pass game with five reception errors and three service errors.
- The Bears never trailed and were never tied in the second set after opening up a 6-0 lead. Van der Mark scored six kills and Baylor had four blocks to keep the Trojans at a .120 hitting rate. The Bears served two more aces and won, 25-17.
- Baylor led by as many as seven points on several occasions in the third, but the Trojans never faded and closed the gap to two points at 22-20 and 24-22 before the Bears completed the sweep. Weske had six of her kills in the third, but Baylor collected four more blocks and out-dug the Trojans, 17-11, to close out the match.
- USC and Baylor met for the first time.
- The Trojans fell to 127-41 (.756) all-time in postseason matches and to 81-34 (.704) in NCAA tournament matches.
- The Women of Troy fell to 31-6 all-time in the state of Texas and to 12-3 in postseason matches played in the state.
- USC faced the No. 1-ranked team in the nation for the first time since playing a No. 1-ranked Stanford squad on Nov. 12, 2014.
