USC Women Stay Unbeaten With Victory At Arizona

Transom wins 50 and 200 free to lead Trojans.
The USC women's swimming and diving team, led by a pair of wins from sophomore Laticia Transom, improved to 3-0 with a 174-124 victory at Arizona on Saturday (Nov. 2) in Tucson while the Trojan men fell 179-119.
Transom (1:47.97) won the 200y free for USC's first win of the day, which was followed by senior co-captain Louise Hansson's first 200y fly victory of the season in 2:00.76.
Transom (22.86) and junior Marta Ciesla (23.27) went 1-2 in the 50y free and, after the break, Ciesla (50.31) and junior Jemma Schlicht (50.47) did the same in the 100y free.
Sophomore Isa Odgers stayed unbeaten in the 200y breast in 2:15.50 while freshman Nicole Pavlopoulou took second (2:17.00). Schlicht then broke thru with a win in the 100y fly in 53.76 with Hansson a rare second (54.04).
Senior Tatum Wade secured USC's final individual win with a 2:02.37 in the 200IM. The Trojans also won the opening 200y medley relay and the closing 400y free relay.
USC swept the women's and men's diving events. Freshman Nike Agunbiade won her first event, taking the 1-meter (275.18) while senior Naomi Gowlett won the 3-meter (310.35).
Senior Henry Fusaro won both the 1-meter (345.38) and 3-meter (381.08), pacing the Trojan team's efforts.
Freshman Jack Kirby won his first event as a Trojan, taking the 200y back in 1:50.07. Sophomore Alexei Sancov was second in both fly events.
