Trojans Set For Desert Road Trip At ASU, Arizona

USC to face Sun Devils on Friday at 1 p.m., Wildcats on Saturday at 10 a.m.
The USC men's and women's swimming and diving teams will take to the road for the first time this season to take on rivals Arizona State on Friday (Nov. 1) in Tempe at 1 p.m. and Arizona on Saturday (Nov. 2) at 10 a.m. in Tucson.
The meet against the Sun Devils will be streamed live at Pac-12.com.
The Trojans kicked off the season at the two-day, three-session Trojan Swim Invite that saw junior Marta Ciesla win the 100y free while sophomore Isa Odgers won the 200y breast and senior Catherine Sanchez captured the 200y fly. Sophomore Victor Johansson led the USC men with a win in the 1650y free.
Odgers then won a career-best three times (100-200y breast, 200y IM) to lead the USC women in their dual-meet opening win against Utah. Senior co-captain Louise Hansson, the two-time NCAA champion in the 100y fly, also made her season debut with a win in specialty. Sophomore Laticia Transom posted her first two-win day as a Trojan with victories in the 50y and 200y free. Sanchez won the 200y fly for the second meet in a row.

USC swimmers secured their first batch of B cut times during the invitational. For Trojan women, they included those from seniors Louise Hansson (100y fly 53.61 against Utah), Catherine Sanchez (200y fly 1:56.90) and Tatum Wade (200y IM 1:58.37, 100y free 49.43), juniors Marta Ciesla (50y free 22.21, 100y free 48.27) and Maggie Aroesty (100y breast 1:01.50, 200y breast 2:11.78), sophomores Jemma Schlicht (50y free 22.69, 100y free 48.85, 100y fly 52.65), Isa Odgers (100y breast 1:00.76, 200y breast 2:09.46) and Laticia Transom (50y free 22.78, 100y free 49.15, 200y free 1:46.83) and freshman Nicole Pavlopoulou (200y breast 2:11.99).
For the USC men, they featured sophomore Victor Johansson in the 500y (4:19.50) and 1650y free (14:56.04), sophomore Alexei Sancov in the 200y free (1:36.32)
OVERVIEW
Captains for this year's Trojans are seniors Thomas Reed and Mark Jurek and junior diver Henry Fusaro for the maen as well as seniors Louise Hansson, Hanni Leach and diver Carly Souza for the women.
Hansson is a two-year captain and the defending NCAA champion in the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly. Other All-Americans returning for the Trojans include Leach, redshirt seniors Kirsten Vose and Tatum Wade, junior Marta Ciesla and sophomore Laticia Transom.
Other key returners include junior Maggie Aroesty (2018 Pac-12 200-yard breaststroke champion), senior diver Naomi Gowlett (2019 Pac-12 platform runner-up) and NCAA vets like senior Catherine Sanchez and sophomore Jemma Schlicht.
Freshmen Nicole Pavlopoulou (Greece) and Aela Janvier (Canada) are among the women's team's top newcomers.
Junior Nikola Miljenic, a two-time Pac-12 finalist and NCAA relay scorer and sophomore Victor Johansson, the 2019 Pac-12 champion in the 500-yard free and an NCAA scorer in the 1650-yard free, are among the key veterans returning for the Trojans. Fusaro is a 2018 Pac-12 champion on 3-meter and a two-time NCAA scorer. Sophomore Alexei Sancov is also set for a big second season.
