LOS ANGELES – The No. 4 USC women's soccer team got a pair of goals from Tara McKeown, including the game-winner in overtime, to beat Utah 2-1 at home on Thursday afternoon in a Pac-12 contest.
McKeown scored on a free kick in the 100th minute to give the Trojans the win and move USC to 10-1-1 overall on the year, and 3-1-0 in Pac-12 play. The Utes fall to 6-4-3 overall and 1-1-2 in conference action.
The Trojans gave up the equalizer with less than two minutes to play in regulation after dominating possession and chances all afternoon. The Utes threw numbers into the penalty area and Alexis Rushlow got her foot on a deflected pass deep in the box to make it a 1-1 game.
McKeown broke a scoreless tie in the 75th minute with a brilliant finish on a ball she volleyed to herself and then slotted into the top left corner of the goal. Her second tiebreaking goal came after USC drew a foul just outside the penalty area with about a minute left in overtime. Her finish would go around the wall and in off the Utah goalkeeper.
