USC Women’s Tennis Returns Stateside for Home Opener

THIS WEEK
The USC women's tennis team returns to Marks Stadium for their 2019 home opener. After competing abroad in Australia, the Women of Troy resume competition stateside with a doubleheader against Loyola Marymount and San Diego on Wednesday (Jan. 30) at Marks Stadium.
ORACLE/ITA RANKINGS UPDATES
In the most recent ITA team rankings (Jan. 23), the Women of Troy remain unranked.
The ITA released its first updated singles and doubles rankings on Nov. 14, and five Trojans were awarded national rankings.
Three freshmen have earned singles rankings in the Top 100: No. 20 Salma Ewing, No. 87 Ana Neffa and No. 99 Danielle Willson. USC is one of 12 schools to have three singles players in the Top 100, and one of three Pac-12 schools, joined by Stanford and Cal.
In doubles, the Trojan tandem of Angela Kulikov/Rianna Valdes locked down the No. 42 ranking.
The next singles/doubles rankings will be released on Feb. 6, 2019.
SCOUTING LOYOLA MARYMOUNT
The Loyola Marymount Lions are not nationally ranked and do not have any ranked singles or doubles players. They are currently 1-2 on the season. Over the weekend, the Lions swept Florida International 4-0 (Jan. 26), but lost 4-0 to UCLA (Jan. 27).
SCOUTING SAN DIEGO
Unranked San Diego does not boast any ranked singles or doubles players. This match against USC will begin their 2019 dual season.
