USC Men's Volleyball Sweeps Lincoln Memorial In First Round Of Grow The Game Challenge

Ryan Moss had 14 kills while hitting .571 and Jack Wyett added 10 kills to lead the USC men's volleyball team to a 25-22, 25-20, 25-23 win over Lincoln Memorial in the first round of the 3-day Off the Block Grow The Game Challenge on Friday (Jan. 18) in Lebanon, Tenn.
USC improved to 3-1 overall, while Lincoln Memorial fell to 3-1.
USC continues play in the Grow The Game Challenge on Saturday (Jan. 19) at 3:30 p.m. PT when it faces Barton and then concludes the tourney by meeting Lindenwood on Sunday (Jan. 20) at 3:30 p.m. PT.
USC hit .295 in the match to Lincoln Memorial's .182
Moss and Wyett each had 5 digs, while Moss, Vecas Lewin and Tyler Resnick all had 4 blocks.
For Lincoln Memorial, Evan Cory had 11 kills and 5 digs, Danny Hermida added 7 kills and 4 blocks, Pedro Carvalho had 8 blocks and Johansen Negron had 6 digs.
USC scored 5 out of 6 points midway through the first set to build a 16-11 lead and the Railsplitters couldn't catch up. The second set was tight until Lincoln Memorial sent up 20-18, but USC then tallied the set's final 7 points. USC was up 18-11 in the third set before Lincoln Memorial scored 9 of the next 10 points to move ahead 20-19 and the Railsplitters soon stretched the lead to 23-21, but the Trojans scored the last 4 points to capture the match.
