LOS ANGELES – The No. 3 USC women's soccer team notched its sixth shutout in eight games and got two goals from Leah Pruitt, posting a 3-0 victory over Long Beach State on senior day at McAlister Field.
The Trojans opened the day by honoring their five graduating seniors (Hailey Hite, Jessie Holmes, Megan McCashland, Ally Prisock and Pruitt) and finished it by moving to 7-0-1 on the year. LBSU dropped to 4-4 with the loss.
Alea Hyatt opened the scoring with her first goal as a Trojan in the 31st minute, giving USC a 1-0 lead heading into the half. Pruitt would find the back of the net on a nice feed from Penelope Hocking in the 56th minute, and then tack on another in the 89th minute when she headed in a cross from Ashley Soto.
The Trojan defense easily held the multi-goal lead, allowing just one shot in each half to the 49ers. USC outshot LBSU 21-2 in the game and did not allow a corner kick. Kaylie Collins notched her fifth solo-shutout of the year in goal.
