LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team fell to No. 2 Oregon State 8-1 in the second game of a three-game series at Dedeaux Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans fall to 24-25 overall and 11-18 in Pac-12 play, while the Beavers move to 42-8-1 overall and 18-7-1 in conference action.
USC answered a two-run first inning by the Beavers with an RBI single from Stephen Dubb in the bottom half of the inning, but that was it for the Trojans offensively for the rest of the day. Oregon State would tack on two more runs in the fourth and then Nick Madrigal hit a three-run triple in the sixth to break the game open.
Quentin Longrie and John Beller each threw four innings in the game and gave up four runs, with Longrie getting the start, and Isaac Esqueda tossed a scoreless ninth. Bryce Fehmel tossed 8.0 innings for the Beavers, giving up five hits and one run.
