Trojan senior is Trinidad and Tobago's first medalist at Commonwealth Games.
USC senior Dylan Carter, two weeks after a 5-time All-American performance at his final NCAA Championships, road the wave of momentum to a silver medal in the 50m fly across the globe at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast of Australia on Friday (April 6).
Carter, swimming for Trinidad and Tobago, won his country's first medal at the international event by finishing second in the race in 23.67, 0.30 back of South African winner Chad le Clos (23.37) and 0.06 ahead of South African Ryan Coetzee. Three other swimmers were within 0,29 of Carter's finish.
Carter, who also represented Trinidad and Tobago at the 2016 Olympics, is coming off an NCAA Championships in which he helped lead the Trojans to their first national title in the 200y medley relay, swimming the fly leg in the USC win.
