Trojans Rally Late, But Fall 8-7 at UC Irvine

USC scored three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth to tie the game in both innings, but UC Irvine had an answer each time and would eventually score the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth.
After falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, USC came back with an RBI single from Kaleb Murphy in the second and then a solo home run from Dillon Paulson in the third to cut the deficit in half. Trailing 5-2 heading into the seventh, the Trojans got RBI knocks from Brandon Perez, Blake Sabol and Angelo Armenta to make it a 5-5 ballgame. Ryan Fitzpatrick hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to put UCI back in front, 7-5, But Lars Nootbaar answered with a mammoth two-run shot to right in the eighth to again tie the game.
The Anteaters loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the eighth and scored on a wild pitch to go ahead for the final time. USC falls to 11-6 with the loss, while UCI moves to 11-8.

- Nootbaar went 2-for-5 with his third home run, two RBI and two runs scored.
- Perez was 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and run scored.
