No. 3 USC Beats Nebraska But Falls to No. 5 Hawai’i

The Women of Troy split duals to complete their time at the Outrigger Resorts Hawai’i Invitational on Sunday
HONOLULU – The No. 3-ranked USC beach volleyball team (11-6) defeated Nebraska (3-8) in a second 5-0 sweep and then dropped a 3-2 decision to fifth-ranked tournament host Hawai'i (11-3) for the second time in two days to conclude play at the 2018 Outrigger Resorts Hawai'i Invitational on Queen's Beach sand on Sunday, March 18.
The Women of Troy collected the season's fifth sweep with its 5-0 win over the Huskers. USC won in straight sets on the top four courts, and went three to complete the sweep on court five where junior Katrina Kernochan and senior Alexandra Poletto held up for a 16-21, 21-15, 15-13 win over Allie Havers and Jasmine Schmidt.
USC won a pair of hard-fought three-setters against the Rainbow Wahine, but were officially defeated when Emily Maglio and Ka'iwi Schucht earned a 19-21, 21-14, 18-16 win over junior Abril Bustamante and freshman Tina Graudina at the top court for the clinching point. Trojan seniors Jenna Belton and Jo Kremer scored one of USC's two points with their 21-19, 13-21, 17-15 win over Ari Homayun and Amy Ozee at court four.
USC returns to Southern California to host the inaugural Pac-12 South Invitational at Ocean Park Beach in Santa Monica, Calif., on Saturday and Sunday (March 24-25).
