USC Baseball Team Heads to Long Beach State for First Midweek Contest

MIDWEEK DOCKET: The USC baseball team heads to Long Beach State for its first midweek contest of the season on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

OPENING WEEKEND: USC opened the season this past weekend at home against Utah Valley, taking two of three from the Wolverines. After dropping the opener, Matthew Acosta hit a go-ahead homer in the 7th inning of game two to propel the Trojans to a 5-4 win. USC then used a six-run fifth inning to win the finale 8-6.
SERIES VS. LONG BEACH STATE: The Trojans lead the all-time series 80-47. The teams split their games last year, with each squad winning at home.

THE SCHEDULE: USC plays nine of its first 10 games at home, including an exhibition against the Korean professional squad NC Dinos. The team plays a total of 32 games at home this year, including the final eight games of the regular season.
CELEBRATE THE 8'S: 2018 marks a special anniversary year, with the Trojans having five championship milestones to celebrate. The USC program won NCAA College World Series titles in 1948, 1958, 1968, 1978 and 1998. USC is the only school that can boast such a feat, with the five titles part of the Trojans' NCAA best 12 overall championships. The program will be celebrating all five of the milestones at a game later in the season and will have content from each one over the course of the year.
