Katinka Hosszu Earns FINA Female Swimmer Of The Year award for fourth time.
USC's swimming contingent combined to win 17 medals at the just completed 2018 World Championships in Hangzhou, China, including six by Russian Vladimir Morozov, five by Hungarian Katinka Hosszu and four by American Kendyl Stewart.

Hosszu won her fourth individual gold to go with an individual silver by taking the 200m IM in 2:03.25 on Saturday. She was the only swimmer at the meet to win more than three individual medals.

By winning gold in the 200m fly, 100m, 200m and 400m IM and silver in the 100m back, Hosszu was earned the FINA Female Swimmer 2018 award, her fourth such honor.

Also on Saturday, Dylan Carter, swimming for Trinidad & Tobago, won his first World Championships medal, touching third in the 50m fly in 22.38.

On Sunday, Stewart also won her first career Worlds medal. She pocketed three golds thanks to prelim relay swims that were the springboards to American relay victories in the final. But Sunday, she got her first medal in a solo effort by taking silver in the 100m fly in 56.22.

Santo Condorelli was USC's other medal winner during the meet, earning a bronze as part of Italy's 4x50m free relay. He also finished fourth on two Italian relays, both by 0.05.

Morozov came within 0.02 of winning his second individual gold, finishing second in the 100m free in 45.64, touching just behind American Caleb Dressel, who he beat in the 50.

Anika Apostalon, competing for the Czech Republic, reached the semifinals of the 50m free Saturday, taking 12th for 24.30. She was a semifinalist in the 100m free earlier in the meet.

Incoming freshman Aela Janvier of Canada, in her second event, was 21st in the 200m IM (2:13.80).
