USC Hosts Vanderbilt At Galen Sunday

The USC Trojans (1-0) will host the Vanderbilt Commodores (1-0) at the Galen Center on Nov. 11 at 6.p.m. USC is 35-5 in home nonconference games under Andy Enfield, including a 23-2 mark in its last 25 regular season nonconference home games.
LOTS GOING ON - If you are coming to the Galen Center on Sunday, be aware that there is a Rams home game at 1:25 p.m. at the Colisuem. Street closures will be implemented during the game and can last an hour or more after the end of game. This will impact access to both Figueroa Street and McCarthy Way structures. Fans are urged to utilize both the Royal Street (access via Jefferson and McClintock) and USC Shrine (access via 32th street) structures for the game on Sunday against Vanderbilt. USC SURGES PAST ROBERT MORRIS - USC opened its season by defeating Robert Morris 83-62 at the Galen Center on Nov. 6, closing the game on a 34-9 run. USC trailed 53-49 with 12 minutes remaining, when Shaqquan Aaron went on a personal 9-0 run to give the Trojans the lead for good. First he made a 3-pointer, then a free throw, a dunk and another 3-pointer to give USC a 58-53 lead. Aaron finished the game with 20 points, his third career 20-point game and first since the 2016-17 season. Nick Rakocevic scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, while Jonah Mathews and Kevin Porter Jr. scored 15 a piece. USC improved to 20-4 in its last 24 home openers. USC made 52.6 percent of its shots, while holding RMU to 34.3 percent shooting, 27.0 percent in the second half.
BREAKING DOWN VANDERBILT - Vanderbilt opened its season with a 92-79 home win over Winthrop on Nov. 11. Freshman guard Darius Garland led Vanderbilt with 24 points. Vanderbilt went 12-20 in the 2017-18 season, including a 93-89 overtime home loss to USC on Nov. 19. USC leads the all-time series with Vanderbilt, 5-1. The Commodores return three starters and six lettermen from last season's team, led by sophomore guard Saben Lee who averaged 10.6 points per game.
STETSON ON DECK - The Stetson Hatters (1-0) from DeLand, Fla. will face USC at the Galen Center on Nov. 14 at 7:00 p.m. Stetson defeated Johnson U-Florida 116-66 on Nov. 7 and plays at Missouri State on Nov. 11 before facing USC. Stetson went 12-20 last season and returns seven lettermen from that team. This is the first meeting between the two schools.
THE WINNING WAYS - USC had 71 wins during the past three seasons, the winningest three-season stretch in school history.
THE MAGIC MARKER - With the 83-62 win over Robert Morris on Nov. 6, USC has now won 32 consecutive games in which it allows 70 points or less.
GET TO KNOW ME - Freshman guard Kevin Porter Jr. scored 15 points in his collegiate debut on Nov. 6 vs. RMU, the most points by a Trojan freshman since Jordan McLaughlin scored 19 points in his first game in 2014. Porter Jr. made six of seven shots and grabbed five rebounds.
RAKOCEVIC DOUBLING UP - Junior forward Nick Rakocevic scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the opener vs. RMU on Nov. 6 for his sixth career double-double. Dating back to the last two games of last season, Rakocevic has three consecutive double-doubles and has averaged 17.7 points (53 total) and 15.0 rebounds (45 total) in those games.
OUR DANDY FROM VANDY - USC Director of Scouting Martin Bahar graduated with a double-major in Communications and Spanish from Vanderbilt in 2006. He was an undergraduate manager for the basketball team while at Vanderbilt. Bahar was hired by USC in July of 2015 and served as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season.
