Hansson leads off with NCAA-best 200.
USC won the 800y free relay with the nation's leading time – thanks in part to Louise Hansson's nation-leading opening 200 yards, while the men's relay was led by freshman Alexei Sancov's season-best opening leg as well to kick off the 2018 Texas Hall of Fame Invitational on Wednesday (Nov. 28) in Austin.
Hansson joined fellow juniors Tatum Wade and Kirsten Vose as well as senior Maddie Wright to win the 800y free in 6:56.33 by over two seconds with an NCAA A cut less than three seconds off the school record.
Hansson also posted an A cut with her lead-off 1:42.56, just 0.75 off her school record. Wade followed with a 1:43.73, Vose posted a 1:44.11 with Wright closing with a 1:45.93.
The men's relay finished fifth in 6:23.03 with Sancov, junior Thomas Reed, senior Patrick Mulcare and freshman Owen Kao. Sancov posted season best with a 1:34.23, improving on his NCAA B cut.
The meet continues Thursday through Saturday with prelims at 8 a.m. PT and finals at 4 p.m. PT each day. Finals will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network.
