USC Returns Home To Face CSU Bakersfield Sunday

The USC Trojans (3-2) will face the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (3-2) at the Galen Cneter in Los Angeles, Calif. on Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. USC has alternated wins and losses in its first five games this season.
TROJANS SHOOT DOWN THE BEARS - USC made 17 three-pointers and rolled to a 99-80 win over Missouri State in the NABC Hall of Fame Classic consolation game at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. on Nov. 20. The 17 makes from beyond the arc were the most by a Trojan team since netting a school-record 20 three-pointers on Jan. 29, 2000 at Oregon State. Jonah Mathews made 5 and finished with 21 points, Bennie Boatwright made 4 to finish with 22 points and Derryck Thornton made a career-best 4 and finished with 12 points, 6 assists and a career-best 6 rebounds. USC made 56.9 percent of its shots, while holding MSU to 40.3 percent. USC had 23 assists, including at least one assist from nine different players. USC led 44-27 at halftime as it held MSU to 31.0 percent shooting in the first half. Ten of the 11 Trojans to play scored at least a point.
BOATWRIGHT NAMED TO NABC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM - Bennie Boatwright was named to the NABC Hall of Fame Classic All-Tournament team as she scored 36 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the two games. He made 56.5 percent (13-for-23) of his shots and 54.5 percent (6-for-11) of his three-point attempts.
BREAKING DOWN CSU BAKERSFIELD - CSU Bakersfield (3-2) is coming off a 68-67 win over Weber State, as guard Damiyne Durham hit a 3-pointer with 5.0 seconds remaining. The game was played in The Bahamas as part of the Junkanoo Jam. Durham averages 11.3 points per game and guard Jarkel Joiner averages 12.2 points per game. USC won its only other meeting with CSU Bakersfield 63-59 on Dec. 15, 2013.
LONG BEACH STATE ON DECK - The Trojans' next game will be against Long Beach State (2-4) at the Galen Center on Nov. 28 at 8 p.m. The 49ers are coming off an 87-72 loss to Utah Valley in the MGM Main Events title game on Nov. 21 and will host Oregon State on Nov. 25 before facing the Trojans. Deishaun Booker leads LBSU in scoring with a 17.8 points per game average. The game against USC will be LBSU's fourth against a Pac-12 team, with losses at UCLA (91-80) and at Arizona State (90-58). LBSU was 15-18 last season and returned nine lettermen and four starters from that team. USC leads the all-time series 8-6, losing the last matchup 72-71 in Long Beach on Dec. 19, 2013.
THE MAGIC MARKER - With the 95-59 win over Stetson on Nov. 14, USC has now won 33 consecutive games in which it allows 70 points or less.
RAKOCEVIC HAS BEEN DOUBLE TROUBLE - Junior forward Nick Rakocevic scored 9 points and had 9 rebounds vs. Texas Tech on Nov. 19, snapping a streak of five consecutive double-doubles dating back to last season. He scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds on Nov. 20 vs. MSU, but in his last seven games he has averaged 15.3 points (107 total) and 13.0 rebounds (91 total). He became the first USC player to record three double-doubles to start a season since Sam Clancy did it to start the 2001-02 season. His five consecutive double-doubles were the most by a USC player since Nikola Vucevic had eight-straight during the 2011 season.
BOATWRIGHT NETS 1,000TH CAREER POINT - USC senior Bennie Boatwright scored 14 points vs. TTU on Nov. 19 to give him 1,008 career points scored. He followed that up with a season-best 22 points vs. Missouri State on Nov. 20. His career total of 1,030 career points ranks 38th on USC's all-time list, 33 behind Nikoloa Vucevic who is in 37th. Boatwright now leads USC with a 17.3 points per game scoring average.
PORTER JR. FITS RIGHT IN - Freshman guard Kevin Porter Jr. scored 15 points in his collegiate debut on Nov. 6 vs. RMU, the most points by a Trojan freshman since Jordan McLaughlin scored 19 points in his first game in 2014. He made his first career start vs. Stetson on Nov. 14 and scored 12 points. Porter Jr. is the only Trojan to score in double figures in all five games this season and is averaging 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks. Porter Jr. is third on the team by scoring average and has made 53.8 percent of his shots (28-for-52).
IT WAS INEVITABLE - USC's junior sharp-shooting guard Jonah Mathews has made 60 percent of his shots in the last two games (12-for-20) including 53.3 percent from three-point range (8-for-15). He was 11-for-32 (34.3 percent) in USC's first three games, including 4-for-16 (25 percent) from three-point range
