The Women of Troy fell in straight sets to the Cardinal for the second time this season
LOS ANGELES – The 15th-ranked USC women's volleyball team (15-7, 7-4 Pac-12) suffered a 3-0 sweep (25-19, 25-19, 29-27) at the hands of No. 2 Stanford (19-1, 11-0) at Galen Center on Friday, Oct. 26.

- Jr. MB Jasmine Gross racked up nine kills without an error on 13 swings (.692) and had one block.
- So. OH Brooke Botkin led the Trojans' offense with 10.5 points on 10 kills and two blocks.
- Jr. OH Khalia Lanier scored nine kills and had five digs.
- Fr. setter Raquel Lázaro put up 31 assists with eight digs, two blocks, one kill, and one service ace.
- For the Cardinal, Audriana Fitzmorris led with 14 kills (2e, 29att, .414). Kathryn Plummer tallied 12 kills (5e, 29att, .241) with seven digs, two blocks, and a service ace. Setter Jenna Gray had 39 assists to go with five digs, three blocks, three kills, and three service aces.
- The teams were knotted at six-all for the sixth tie of the first set, but the Cardinal put its foot on the gas and ran away to lead by seven at 17-10. The Trojans fought back to close the set, but had too little too late as Stanford won, 25-19. USC hit just .038 in the opening frame while Stanford put up 4.5 blocks and had a .519 hitting rate.
- The second set was also tied six times as the Cardinal came away with another 25-19 win. Despite adding another five service errors (16 total in the match), Stanford overcame its own missteps to post a .467 hitting rate (15-1-30) to hold down the Trojans.
- USC came back from several three-point deficits in the third and grabbed a 14-12 lead by putting together a big 6-0 run. The Trojans maintained their distance and led by three at 22-19, but the Cardinal had other plans and used a 4-0 run to grab a 23-22 lead. The teams went back and forth for a total of 11 ties before Stanford closed with a kill from Fitzmorris in a 29-27 win.
- USC hosts California (12-10, 4-7) at Galen Center on Sunday (Oct. 28) at 1 p.m. PT. The Golden Bears defeated No. 20 UCLA in a 3-0 sweep at Pauley Pavilion earlier tonight. The Trojans and the Bears will be streamed on USC's Pac-12+ platform.
- USC fell to 26-65-1 all-time against Stanford and lost its sixth straight match to the Cardinal.
- The Trojans lost back-to-back matches for only the second time this season (BYU and Marquette, Sept. 7).
- The Women of Troy were facing their fifth straight ranked opponent (14th overall) and fell to 8-6 against ranked foes.
- USC fell to 158-34 all-time at Galen Center and suffered its second loss on home court this season.
