Women of Troy Compete in Prequalifying Rounds of Riviera/ITA All-American Championships

Four Trojans competed in the Prequalifying rounds of the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships over the weekend in Malibu, Calif. at Pepperdine University.
USC freshman Salma Ewing, the No. 5 freshman/newcomer in the nation, reached the final match of the Prequalifying round on Sunday (Sept. 30) where she just missed moving on to the Qualifying round with a close 7-6 (3), 6-4 loss to Mississippi State's Magda Adologlou.
Junior Becca Weissmann fell in the first round of the Prequalifying bracket on Saturday to Texas' Tijana Spasojevic 6-3, 6-1.
Tomorrow (Oct. 2), senior Rianna Valdes will begin competition in the Qualifying round of singles with her first match against Lisa Marie Rioux of Oklahoma State at 12:15 p.m. at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Also on Tuesday, junior Angela Kulikov will join Valdes as the No. 1 seed in the doubles Qualifying round with their first match at 9 a.m. against Jandric/Machalova of Ole Miss.
Qualifying rounds continue through Wednesday (Oct. 3), and the Main Draw begins Thursday (Oct. 4) and will run through Sunday (Oct. 7) at the Riviera Tennis Club.
