USC 1958 All-American Outfielder Jerry Siegert Dies

Jerry Siegert, an All-American first team outfielder on USC's 1958 national championship baseball team, died on Dec. 23 in San Diego after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 82.

The 3-year (1955, 57-58) letterman hit .370 with 31 RBI and a team-high 49 runs scored as a rightfielder on the 1958 Trojan squad that went 28-3 while winning the school's second College World Series title.

He came to USC from Dorsey High in Los Angeles.

After USC, he worked for Dart Entities.

No services were held. He was buried in Salt Lake City.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna, daughters Julie Zela and Christy Siegert and grandson Garrison Zela.
