Trojan sophomore sweeps singles and mixed doubles titles in Malibu.
Not 24 hours after winning the mixed doubles championship at the Oracle ITA Masters, USC sophomore Brandon Holt polished off the singles crown for himself with a straight-set victory in today's title match in Malibu. While he was in full winning mode in Southern California, two of his Trojan teammates were in action at the Battle in the Bay, where USC's Jack Jaede and Laurens Verboven were able to reach the doubles semifinals up in San Francisco.

Fresh off the mixed doubles title with UCLA's Ena Shibahara — also a singles finalist at the event — Brandon Holt stayed the course and clicked off a 6-3, 7-6 (2) win over the upset-minded Victor Pham of Columbia. Pham had knocked off the tournament's top seed the previous day, but No. 2 seed Holt proved up to the challenge today as the ITA All-American held strong and claimed his second championship of the weekend.

Meanwhile, in San Francisco, Trojans Jack Jaede and Laurens Verboven competed in singles and doubles at the Battle in the Bay. As a doubles duo, the two Trojans drummed up wins in the Round of 16 and quarterfinals to play in today's semifinals. There, the USC pair were topped 8-3 by a team from UC Santa Barbara. In singles, Jaede reached the quarterfinals, where he fell in three sets to the draw's No. 3 seed. Verboven had to face the top seed in the Round of 16.Â
