Reigning National Champions Begin Spring Slate this Weekend
March 23, 2017 | Women's Soccer
LOS ANGELES - The reigning National Champions begin their spring slate this weekend, beginning with two games in Malibu against UBC and Pepperdine on Sunday, March 26.
The Trojan squad is looking to begin life without a key senior class that helped bring home the 2016 NCAA title. The seven seniors, including six starters have all moved on, with five (Morgan Andrews, Katie Johnson, Kayla Mills, Mandy Freeman and Sammy Jo Prudhomme) beginning their professional career in the NWSL next month and the other, Savannah Levin playing professionally in Sweden. This spring slate over seven different dates will give head coach Keidane McAlpine and his staff a look at the returners for 2017, along with freshman Savannah DeMelo, who missed the fall of 2016 as she competed in the U-20 Women's World Cup for the United States.
