McLaughlin Named Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

USC point guard Jordan McLaughlin was named the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 11-17, it was announced by commissioner Larry Scott today (Dec. 18). It is McLaughlin's third career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor.
The Trojan senior captain averaged 9.5 points,14.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in USC's two victories. McLaughlin broke his school record and tied the Pac-12 Conference record when he recorded 19 assists in the 98-87 home win against UC Santa Barbara on Dec. 17. The 19 assists are the most in a game by any college player since 2012 and tied the Pac-12 record set by Russell Brown of Arizona in 1979. McLaughlin previously held the USC record for assists in a game with 16 set in 2015. McLaughlin also had 10 points in the game against UCSB for his fourth career double-double. He also added four rebounds and three steals in the game.
In USC's 82-59 home win over Santa Clara on Dec. 14, McLaughlin just missed out on another double-double, finishing with nine points and 10 assists. He also had four rebounds, two steals and two blocks against Santa Clara.
McLaughlin, a three-year team captain, is averaging 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 2.3 steals per game this season. He was the only men's college player to record at least three assists in every game last season and his current career total of 530 assists ranks sixth among all active players and second on USC's all-time list. He also ranks sixth in steals (162), ninth in minutes played (3,328), 11th in three-pointers made (147) and 17th in points (1,308) on USC's all-time lists.
McLaughlin was named to the 2018 John R. Wooden Award preseason top 50 candidates list at the beginning of the season. Â
