Five Trojans Earn Pac-12 Academic Honorable Mention

The Women of Troy begin their run in the 2017 NCAA Tournament at Galen Center this weekend
SAN FRANCISCO – The 14th-ranked USC women's volleyball team (22-9) had five student-athletes named for 2017 Pac-12 Conference Women's Volleyball All-Academic honorable mention as announced on Thursday, Nov. 30, by Commissioner Larry Scott. In order to be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average, and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's games.

Senior middle blocker Jordan Dunn (Corona HS/Corona, Calif.), senior setter Reni Meyer-Whalley (Marymount HS/Los Angeles, Calif.), and junior libero Victoria Garrick (Sacred Heart Preparatory/Atherton, Calif.) each received their second honorable mention nods. All three Women of Troy also received honorable mention in 2016. Senior opposite hitter Brittany Abercrombie (La Costa Canyon HS/Carlsbad, Calif.) and sophomore outside hitter Daley Krage (Saint Charles North HS/Saint Charles, Ill.) were each chosen for honorable mention for the first times in their careers.

The Trojans open their tournament run against Southland Conference champion Central Arkansas (27-4) on Friday (Dec. 1) at 7 p.m. PT. In the other first-round match, West Coast Conference champ No. 9 San Diego (24-4) faces Louisiana State (20-9) at 5 p.m. Winners of the two first-round matches will meet on Saturday (Dec. 2) at 5 p.m. in the second round. All matches will be streamed live on the USC Pac-12+ platform at http://www.pac-12.com/live/usc.
