Tanner Smith & Laurens Verboven Win SoCal Intercollegiate Doubles Crown

In an all-Trojan title match, No. 4 seeded Smith/Verboven beat out their teammates 8-3 to claim the championship.
LOS ANGELES, CALIF. — USC men's tennis was guaranteed to raise at least one championship trophy today. The only question was which set of Trojans would be holding that hardware at day's end. In an all-Trojan title match to decide the Southern California Intercollegiate doubles championship, it was redshirt junior Tanner Smith and junior Laurens Verboven who prevailed with an 8-4 win over teammates Jake DeVine and Logan Smith.
USC also had representation in the singles final, as sophomore Brandon Holt tangled with an upset-minded Oliver Frank of Azusa Pacific. Frank was able to fend off the top-seeded Holt, handing the Trojan a 6-3, 6-4 loss to take the Southern California Intercollegiate singles crown back with him to Azusa.
That wrapped up the action at the event, played out on USC's home courts at Marks Stadium. Eight Trojans had been engaged in competition in the singles main draw, while three Trojan doubles pairs were in that main draw.
