Anderson Wins 5K Gold At U.S. Nationals

Former USC NCAA champion and Olympic medalist Haley Anderson won a gold medal today (April 26) in the 5K to complement her silver on Friday in the 10K at the U.S. Open Water Nationals at Miromar Lakes in Florida.

Anderson, gathering steam as she pushes to qualify for the 2016 Olympics, won the 5K in 1:01.51.291, more than two seconds ahead of second-place Ashley Twichell. Anderson won silver in the 10K at the 2012 Games.

She won silver on Friday in the 10K in 2:02.38.709, less than a second behind Becca Mann.

Anderson could qualify for the 2016 Olympics later this summer at the World Championships. She won the world title in the 5K in 2013.
