Former Trojan forward Dewayne Dedmon was signed to a free agent contract by the Golden State Warriors from the Santa Cruz Development League team today (Nov. 19).
Dedmon played in five preseason games with Golden State, averaging 3.4 points, four rebounds and one block in 10.3 minutes. He was waived on Oct. 25 and assigned to the Santa Cruz Development League team.
Dedmon averaged 6.7 points and 7.0 rebounds for USC last season and led the Trojans with 66 blocks. His block total was the sixth-best single-season total by a Trojan and his 85 career blocks in two seasons rank ninth on USC's all-time list.
With the signing of Dedmon by Golden State, USC currently has six players in the NBA. Along with Dedmon, former Trojans playing in the NBA are Nick Young (Lakers), DeMar DeRozan (Toronto), Taj Gibson (Chicago), Nikola Vucevic (Orlando) and O.J. Mayo (Milwaukee).*
*Player participation later vacated due to NCAA penalty
