Peter Smith To Speak At Long Beach State

Recently inducted into the Long Beach State Hall of Fame, USC men's tennis head coach Peter Smith is following up his 200th career victory at USC with a visit to his alma mater. Smith will be the featured speaker at CSULB's Distinguished Speaker Series on April 10. The event will be held at 6 p.m. in the Karl Anatol Center in Long Beach, Calif.
Smith is currently guiding the Trojans in pursuit of a fourth straight national championship. The topic of his speech at the Distinguished Speaker Series will be "How CSULB Prepared Me For Success In My Career."
Smith kicked off his collegiate coaching career at Long Beach State, where he played and would soon return to become the youngest Division I men's tennis head coach at age 23. He served as the 49ers' head coach for four years (1988-91), compiling an overall record of 50-47 (.515). Smith's success at Long Beach State and continued coaching dominance secured him in the Hall of Fame Class of 2011.
