Flora Bolonyai Earns International Honors

USC's sophomore goalie Flora Bolonyai gave her Hungarian National Team a lift this past week out at the Thetis Cup in Greece. The Trojan anchored Hungary to victory at the Cup, and earned herself honors as the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.
With Bolonyai's backup in goal, Hungary beat Greece 10-8, Russia 14-13 and Italy 11-6 to win the crown at the competitive tournament. Bolonyai will remain overseas with Hungary to play in the coming European Championships, where teams vie for the chance to move into Olympic Qualifying in April. Bolonyai will return to USC at the end of the month after European Championships have completed in order to rejoin her Trojan teammates for the 2012 season. Bolonyai earned All-American Honorable Mention last season as a freshman goalie with the Women of Troy.
USC sophomore Jennifer Stiefel also is overseas with eyes on upcoming action at the European Championships as a member of the German National Team. Hungary and Germany are two of eight women's teams playing in the tournament, which runs Jan. 18-28 in the Netherlands.
