USC Tennis Holding 2011 NCAA Ring Ceremony

It's becoming another Heritage Hall tradition. For the third straight season, the USC men's tennis team will add a shiny new accessory to its wardrobe in a celebration on the steps of Heritage Hall. The Trojan team from 2011 will receive its newest set of NCAA Championship rings -- making it three in a row for the Trojans -- in a 2:30 p.m. ceremony on September 17.
The ceremony will gather together the 2011 USC squad, helmed by head coach Peter Smith and associate head coach George Husack and headlined by a set of three Trojans -- Steve Johnson, Daniel Nguyen and Jaak Poldma -- who have now won three national championships together. This latest crown came as the Trojans finished 2011 on a 19-match winning streak, culminating with a 4-3 win over top-seeded Virginia in the title match to finish the year 27-2 overall.
USC's 2011 championship was the program's 19th overall NCAA men's tennis championship and the university's 115th national team title. With the win, men's tennis matched a three-in-a-row championship precedent set most recently at Troy by men's water polo, which won its third straight with the 2010 crown. The last men's tennis team to take three in a row was Stanford, which won four straight titles from 1995-98.
Smith and the champs extend an open invitation to all Trojan fans to share in the September 17 ceremony, which takes place two and a half hours before kickoff of the USC-Syracuse football game.
