"I thought we looked strong, but you could tell this particular road trip had us a little mentally tired tonight," said USC head coach Mick Haley. "We didn't have a lot of hitting errors tonight so that was a key. I thought we served very tough in the match."
USC broke away from a 4-4 tie in the first set with a 15-5 run for the 19-9 lead. Fuller put the set away for the Women of Troy. Jupiter had back-to-back kills in the second set to start another run, later adding back-to-back service aces for the 16-7 advantage. Freshman Hannah Schraer later chipped in back-to-back kills as USC took a 2-0 lead in the match.
A commanding 16-5 run paved the way for the sweep in the third set as freshman Emily Young finished the match for the Women of Troy. The Trojans have won 12 of the last 13 meetings against the Cougars.
