
Four USC Players Earn All-Pacific Region Honors

LOS ANGELES -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association released its 2010 all-region awards today with three USC women's volleyball players being named All-Pacific Region. Juniors Alex Jupiter (Paris, France/Redondo Union HS), Kendall Bateman (Manhattan Beach/Mira Costa HS) and Lauren Williams (Houston, Texas/Stratford HS) earned All-Pacific Region honors while Falyn Fonoimoana (Hermosa Beach/Mira Costa HS) was named Pacific Region Freshman of the Year, as well as receiving Pacific Region honorable mention.
This is the first time since 2006 that USC has placed three players on the all-region team and the most (four) since 2003. Fonoimoana becomes the third player in USC history to earn freshman region player of the year honors.
Jupiter, a two-time all-region selection, leads the Women of Troy with 488 kills this season (4.44 kps) whilte hitting .305 with 37 aces (0.34 saps), 268 digs (2.44 dps), 74 blocks (0.67 bps) and 578.5 points (5.26 pps).
Bateman has 1,440 assists (12.41 aps) this season and is third in the nation for assists after leading the nation last year. She has orchestrated a Trojan offense that produced a .295 hitting percentage, which is ranked sixth nationally.
Williams is fourth in the nation with a .426 hitting percentage. She has 257 kills (2.38 kps) with a team-leading 105 blocks (0.95 bps) and 322.5 points (2.99 pps). Fonoimoana has 359 kills this season (3.32 kps) with 22 aces (0.20 saps), 170 digs (1.57 dps), 53 blocks (0.49 bps) and 421.5 points (3.90 pps).
USC travels to the Dayton Regional to face Indiana in a semifinal match on Friday (Dec. 10) at 4 p.m. Eastern (1 p.m. Pacific). The match will be broadcast (audio only) on usctrojans.com with a video webcast on daytonflyers.com. The USC/Indiana winner will face Ohio State/Stanford on Saturday (Dec. 11) at 4 p.m. Eastern (1 p.m. Pacific) with a live broadcast on ESPNU.
