Robert Feathers, a 6-8 middle blocker from Loyola High in Los Angeles, has signed a letter of intent with USC and will join the Trojan program in the fall of 2011, USC men's volleyball head coach Bill Ferguson announced today.
"We are thrilled that Robert will be a Trojan," said Ferguson. "He is a fine young man and will be a great addition to our program. He has been a winner at every level in which he has played, both on the court and off the court."
Feathers made the 2010 All-CIF Division I first team as a junior as Loyola won the CIF Southern Section Division I title. He was a 2009 All-CIF Division I second teamer as a sophomore when Loyola was ranked No. 1 nationally while winning the CIF State and Southern Section Division I championships.
He was a member of the 2009 U.S. Youth National Team that finished 10th at the FIVB Boys Youth World Championship in Italy. He was on the winning White team at the 2008 Boys International Youth High Performance Championship and made the All-Tournament team (he was named the tourney's Best Blocker).
His Manhattan Beach Surf club team was the gold medalist at the 2010 USA Volleyball Junior Olympics in the Under 18 Open Gold Division and he made the All-Tournament team. His Palisades 18 Kaepa team was the bronze medalist in the Under 18 Open Gold Division at the 2009 Junior Olympics. His Palisades 17 Kaepa team won the gold medal in the Under 17 Open Gold Division at the 2008 Junior Olympics.
