LONG BEACH, CALIF. - The No. 2 USC men's water polo team boosted its MPSF record up to 5-2 with a solid 10-4 win over No. 8 Long Beach State. The Trojans utilized a balanced gameplan to get their seventh straight win in the books, improving USC to 22-2 overall on the year with one game left in the regular season.
Nikola Vavic's hat trick led the way for the USC offense, which answered an early 1-1 lockup with a five-goal run to put the Beach behind 6-1. When Long Beach State got a late goal to go in the second period, Tobias Preuss punched in an answer just before the break for a 7-2 USC halftime advantage.
The third period was a quiet one, with the Trojans registering the only goal of the frame with a score from Connor Virjee. In the fourth, the teams stayed in stride with one another to move an 8-2 USC lead to a 10-4 final by the final buzzer.
