LOS ANGELES - Lyndsay DePaul led the University of Southern California women's swimming team with four wins Friday at the 2010 USC Invitational, while Vlad Morozov and Clement Lefert both had three wins for the men's team.
DePaul, a senior from Orange, Calif., won the women's 200-yard butterfly in 1 minute 56.45 seconds, leading a USC sweep in that event during the dual-meet session of the invitational at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium. DePaul also won the 200 breaststroke in 2:15.03. Both times are NCAA "B" cuts.
The invitational also featured a separate sprint session that followed the dual-meet segment. DePaul won both the 50-yard backstroke and 50-yard butterfly in the sprint session. Neither are NCAA events.
The USC women's team defeated the University of San Diego 140-59 and Cal State Bakersfield 141-52 respectively during the dual-meet session. Scores were not kept during the women's portion of the sprint session.
The men's team defeated Cal State Bakersfield 111-85 during the dual-meet segment and 104-40 during the sprint session. Morozov, a freshman from Redondo Beach, Calif., won the 50-yard freestyle in 20.05 seconds and 100-yard freestyle in 44.83 during the dual meet.
In the sprint session, Morozov came back to win the 50 freestyle in 20.14. Both 50-yard times are NCAA "B" cuts. Lefert, a sophomore from Nice, France, won the 200 freestyle in 1:37.66 seconds and the 200 butterfly in 1:47.87. Both times are NCAA "B" cuts. He also won the 50-yard fly during the sprint session.
Double winners included:
- Alex Lendrum: men's 200 IM in the dual meet and the 50-yard backstroke in the sprint session;
- Amanda Smith: women's 50-yard freestyle in both sessions;
- Kasey Carlson: women's 100-yard freestyle in the dual meet and the 50-yard breaststroke in the sprint session.
