Kami Craig led USC in scoring with three goals in a big MPSF win for the Trojans over crosstown rival UCLA in the Bruins' home pool last weekend, and has picked up her second career MPSF Player of the Week honors as a result. Thanks in large part to Craig's performance, USC beat UCLA for the second time this season to earn additional Lexus Gauntlet points, and handed the Bruins their first home loss of the season with Saturday's 11-10 MPSF win.
Craig earned seven 6-on-5 opportunities for USC in the game in addition to her three goals scored during the first three periods of play, when the teams traded no more than one-goal leads. She earned and converted a USC 6-on-5 to score the game's first goal, later tied the game 3-3 in the second period, and got USC a 6-5 lead early in the third with an even score out of two-meters. The junior now is second on the team in scoring with 32 goals on the year. USC's 11-10 win over host UCLA improved the Trojans' overall record to 19-1 and keeps USC undefeated in MPSF matches at 6-0.
The Women of Troy have two more regular-season matches on the docket, with arguably the biggest match of the season coming Saturday (April 18) at the Trojans' home pool as USC takes on No. 1 Stanford at 4:30 p.m. in a battle of undefeated MPSF squads that will decide the top seed for the coming MPSF Championships.
