USC senior Michelle Stein has grabbed her second MPSF Player of the Week honor this week after another game-winning effort for the Trojans last week. With the selection, Stein continues the trend of a Trojan as an MPSF pick every week this month. Junior goalie Tumua Anae has been honored as a Player of the Week on March 2 and 16, with junior two-meter Kami Craig a March 9 selection. Stein's previous MPSF accolade came on February 9.
Stein's latest heroics came in Hawai'i last week. There, Stein served up the game-winning goal in a two-goal performance by the senior against No. 4 Hawai'i in MPSF play. Stein's second goal of the day broke a 6-6 tie and stood as the only goal scored during the fourth period by either team to push USC to a 7-6 MPSF win over the Rainbow Wahine. Those two goals also moved Stein up in the USC history books, as she now stands as USC's No. 8 leading scorer with 138 career goals to date.
Stein has scored in every game for the Trojans and leads the team with 43 goals. The win also improves USC's overall record to 15-1 and its MPSF mark to 4-0 with the important win over No. 4 Hawaii.
USC's next competition takes the Women of Troy to San Diego this weekend. The Trojans will first face UC San Diego at 3 p.m. on Friday (March 27) and will visit San Diego State at 1 p.m. on Saturday (March 28) in an MPSF clash.
