The USC men's tennis team packed two singles players and two doubles teams into today's semifinal matches at the Sherwood Collegiate Cup. Emerging with tickets to Monday's tournament finals were junior Robert Farah in singles and Farah and teammate Steven Johnson in the doubles action.
Farah beat out UCLA's Matt Brooklyn in his singles semifinal today, while fellow Trojan Jaak Poldma dropped his semifinal match to Stanford's second-seeded Alex Clayton. That pits Farah against Clayton tomorrow in the Sherwood singles championship match.
In doubles play, Farah/Johnson took down their semifinal opponents to set up a championship bout against another Stanford foe, Muller/Wire. The two Cardinal had beaten out USC's Abdullah Magdas / Daniel Nguyen in a tight 9-8 semifinal decision.
