
USC Announces Addition Of Joelle Bekhazi

USC's class of talent coming to the pool for 2009 welcomes another standout athlete, as the USC women's water polo team welcomes Joelle Bekhazi to Troy for the coming season, USC head coach Jovan Vavic has announced. A member of the Canadian National Team, Bekhazi brings speed and defensive strength to Troy as an experienced utility player.
As a Canadian national teamer, Behkazi has competed at the Junior World Championships and Junior Pan-American Games and has since moved up to the Senior National Team level for Canada. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Bekhazi most recently competed for Canada in a series of exhibition games against the U.S. National Team. Bekhazi also has been a member of Canada's teams at the 2007 FINA Super Final as well as the 2007 Pan American Games.
"Joelle is an excellent defender and a very dangerous attacker," Vavic said. "She's very fast and intelligent and tough. She also takes most of the opening sprints for the Canadian National Team and will bring important speed to our team as well."
Bekhazi joins a class of 10 other signees joining the Women of Troy next season: Kristine Cato, Nadia Dan, Amanda Hardy, Kara-Leigh Huse, Emily Klug, Alexandra Powers, Paige Squiller, Briana Vogelzang, Sarah Welty and Kendall Wootten.
