The Anteaters improved to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the MPSF, while the Trojans fell to 4-5 and 3-3.

In the first game, UCI broke a 26-26 tie with a Trojan hitting error and then a solo block by Wynne to go up by 2 and the Anteaters never relinquished the lead. UCI got out to a 10-5 lead in the second game and USC could never overcome it as the Anteaters hit .405. It was all USC in the third game as the Trojans opened with a 5-0 lead and were never threatened while putting up 5.5 blocks. UCI jumped out to a 13-6 edge in the fourth game, but USC pulled within 19-18 before the Anteaters regained control by going on a 4-0 run and riding that to victory.
USC next plays at No. 4 Long Beach State in an MPSF match on Friday (Feb. 1).
