USC senior Erika Figge has been honored with the first MPSF Mikasa Player of the Week award of her Trojan career after an outstanding performance last weekend for the USC women's water polo team. Figge set a new career high for herself with six goals against Arizona State on March 24, while also moving up to rank No. 10 all-time in career scoring at USC.
Figge's six-goal outburst pushed her past former No. 10 player Sandra Milicev to now hold 118 career goals. She also won all four sprints, was responsible for earning three USC 6-on-5 opportunities, and had three steals and one 5-on-6 field block. With USC trailing by one twice in the first half, the senior utility player tied the game twice and had four goals in USC's 8-2 scoring run across the second and third periods that put ASU out of reach in the game on the way to USC's 15-8 victory.
Figge is now tied as USC's leading scorer this season with 31 goals. This was the senior's eighth multiple-goal game of the year, as she has scored in 15 of USC's 16 games this season. Figge is the second Trojan this season to be named MPSF Player of the Week.
Figge and the rest of the USC squad next faces Long Beach State this Saturday (March 31) in a 12 p.m. home match at McDonald's Swim Stadium
