Steven Mochalski Signs With USC Men's Volleyball

Steven Mochalski, a 6-5 outside hitter from Mira Costa High in Manhattan Beach (Calif.), has signed a letter of intent with USC, Trojan men's volleyball head coach Bill Ferguson announced today (Nov. 28).
Mochalski earned 2007 South Bay Daily Breeze All-South Bay first team and All-Bay League first team honors as a junior on Mira Costa's CIF Division I finalist squad. He recorded 252 kills (hitting .480), 97 digs and 39 blocks in 2007.
His father, Dave, was a starting middle blocker on UCLA's 1982 NCAA championship team (going 29-0) who was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team and All-Conference second team that season.
Mochalski joins 4 other talented high school players who signed with USC earlier this month: 6-6 outside hitter Tony Ciarelli of Huntington Beach (Calif.) High, 6-2 libero Clay Knapp of Laguna Beach (Calif.) High, 6-4 outside hitter Tucker Peleuses of Newport Harbor High in Newport Beach (Calif.) and 6-7 middle blocker Steven Shandrick of Santa Margarita High in Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.).
