USC Men's Volleyball Falls At Pepperdine In MPSF Opener

Paul Carroll had 27 kills to lead No. 5 Pepperdine to a 26-30, 30-18, 31-29, 30-25 home victory over No. 13 USC in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opener for both teams on Friday (Jan. 12).
Pepperdine improved to 2-0 overall, while the Trojans dropped to 1-3.
Carroll hit .558 and added 6 digs and 4 blocks, while Waves teammate John Parfitt had 15 kills.
For USC, Juan Figueroa had 19 kills while hitting .333 and added a match-high 13 digs. Teammate C.J. Schellenberg had 14 kills, Andrew Vernon had 8 kills (hitting .538) and 7 blocks, Matt Anderson also had 8 kills and Jimmy Killian had 7 blocks.
USC next hosts No. 10 Long Beach State at 7 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 17) in its first-ever match in the new Galen Center.
