Ryan Francis Endowed Scholarship Established
September 27, 2006 | Men's Basketball
Sept. 27, 2006
USC Athletics and the Trojan Board of Directors have announced the establishment of the Ryan Francis Endowed Scholarship with the hosting of an inaugural fund-raising event on Oct. 24 at the Galen Center from 4-7 p.m.
The Ryan Francis Endowed Scholarship Inaugural Event allows fans to watch practice at the brand new Galen Center from 4-5 p.m. and then attend a reception from 5-7. During that time, guests will hear from head coach Tim Floyd, meet the 2006-07 Trojan basketball team, enjoy cocktails and hors d'oveurs and receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the spectacular new arena.
The scholarship is being established to honor Ryan Francis, whose bright smile and big-hearted play inspired people everywhere. Francis, who was an honorable mention selection to the All-Pac-10 Freshman team last season, was shot and killed on May 14 while back home in Baton Rouge, La. visiting his mother.
