Whitney Morgan Named MPSF Co-Player Of The Week

The USC women's water polo team is on a roll, thanks in large part to goalie Whitney Morgan. Morgan anchored the USC defense through four wins at the Gaucho Invitational, capping off the tourney with 12 saves against Stanford in the championship game. For her efforts at the tournament and in that title match, Morgan has been named MPSF Co-Player of the Week.
It is Morgan's first career award after taking over the cage in her first season of action for the Women of Troy this year. The redshirt freshman played in all four games at the Gaucho Invitational, and went big in the championship game against No. 3 Stanford. She racked up seven of her final 12 saves during the last two periods of play against the Cardinal, allowing just one goal to pass her by in the second half to help the Trojans to a 6-5 win over Stanford. That victory improved USC's overall record to 12-0 and keeps the Trojans ranked No. 1 in the country.
Morgan shares her first player of the week honor with Arizona State's Rowie Webster.
