LOS ANGELES -- Five different players recorded two goals each Saturday as the No. 2 USC Trojans defeated the No. 11 UC Irvine Anteaters in women's water polo action at McDonald's Swim Stadium. USC outscored UCI, 6-0, in the second period as the Women of Troy completed an MPSF doubleheader after earlier defeating No. 5 Long Beach State, 8-6.
USC goes to 17-3 on the season and 8-1 in conference while UC Irvine falls to 11-11 overall and 4-7 in MPSF action.
Anna Pardo and Brittany Hayes scored twice as part of the second period as USC led 9-1 at halftime.
The Women of Troy will play a road-home doubleheader next Friday (April 15) with a 2 p.m. match at Loyola Marymount and a 5:30 p.m. match against Arizona State at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
